Entry qualifications

Generic

Applicants must be in possession of the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or its equivalent with six (6) credit passes including English. Those with less than six and not less than 4 shall be required to undergo bridging programme before being enrolled in the regular programmes.

Mature entry

MSCE plus a certificate or diploma in relevant programe or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution. Experience in the field is an added advantage.

Credit transfer and Exemptions

Candidates who hold any of the qualifications above may be exempted from some course units at the discretion of the Senate upon recommendations from the faculty. In addition, a candidate registered in another accredited university may be allowed to transfer credit to the programme of interest offered at the University. The maximum number of courses to be exempted or given credit transfer shall not exceed 50% of the total required course units for the whole programme.

Bridging Programme

Applicants, who do not meet the entry requirements for the degree programmes, can enrol via the bridging programme.

Application Procedure

Applicants shall:

  1. Submit an application to the University Registrar within the specified period of applications;
  2. Provide original copies of their certificates to support their eligibility for the programme;
  3. Candidates may be required to sit for and pass an Entrance Examination where required;
  4. Pay application fees that shall be determined by the University from time to time.
