The Lilongwe Campus of the University of Livingstonia (UNILIA), whose premises are in Area 18, will open by June of this year.
This was said by the University’s Vice Chancellor, The Very Reverend Associate Professor Timothy Nyasulu, at the 16th congregation of the Unilia on 24th February, 2023. The graduation ceremony was attended by His Excellency, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi and Her Excellency Madame Monica Chakwera, First Lady of the Republic of Malawi. The graduation ceremony was held in Mzuzu City under the theme, ‘Education for self-reliance and a moral society’ took place at Mzuzu Auction Floors Hall and it attracted people of different walks of life.
A total of 817 students graduated with Certificates, Diplomas and Degrees in various academic disciplines of Public Health, Food Security and Nutrition, Environmental Management, Computer Engineering, Education (Sciences), Education (Humanities), Education (Information and Communication Technology), University Certificate in Education, Human Rights, Development Studies, Theology, Accountancy, Business Management, Journalism and Development Communication, Pharmacy, Clinical Medicine, Community Midwifery, Nursing, and Nursing Midwifery. The number brings the total of students that have graduated from UNILIA to 4461.
Gift Palaviya and Kondwani Mutowa graduated with Distinction in Bachelor of Accountancy and Bachelor of Science in Public Health respectively and received a gift of K200,000 each from His Excellency, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi.
