Ministry, scholars, firms Laud UNILIA for Hosting Third International Conference on Tourism and Hospitality Education

The Ministry of Industrialization, Business, Trade and Tourism and players in the tourism and hospitality industry have praised the University of Livingstonia (UNILIA) for hosting the Third International Conference on Tourism and Hospitality Education from 4 to 5 March, 2026 at the Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe.

Held under the theme, “Bridging Academia and Industry by Reshaping Hospitality and Tourism: Professionals Embracing Technological Developments”, the conference convened government officials, experts, students and scholars from several international universities.

Director of the School of Hospitality and Business at Michigan State University, Professor Karthikeyan Namasivayan, thanked the University for playing a greater role in organizing the conference.

In the conference’s opening address, Dr Maxwell Tsitsi, Principal Secretary responsible for Administration in the Ministry of Industrialization, Business, Trade and Tourism, thanked UNILIA and stakeholders.

Prophet Dr. Shepherd Bushiri presented on religious tourism while the Vice Chancellor The Very Reverend Associate Professor Timothy Nyasulu highlighted the university’s commitment to tourism and hospitality development.
