Biography

Ellacy Chirwa is a Lecturer and Head of the Public Health Department at the University of Livingstonia, Laws Campus, Malawi. She is currently pursuing a PhD at Mzuzu University, where her research focuses on public health, sanitation, and infectious disease epidemiology. She holds a Master of Science in Global Sanitation and a Bachelor of Science in Public Health. Her professional experience includes serving as a Research Assistant and Compliance Officer for the University of Livingstonia Research Ethics Committee, contributing to research ethics oversight, regulatory compliance, and institutional research. She has extensive experience in qualitative and quantitative research, including community-based studies, systematic reviews, and project management. Her technical expertise includes research design, data collection, statistical analysis, scientific writing, and evidence synthesis. Ellacy is committed to advancing ethical, evidence-informed research that strengthens health systems, improves sanitation and hygiene, and contributes to sustainable public health outcomes in Malawi and other low-resource settings.
