The University of Livingstonia invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions tenable at Laws Campus (Livingstonia) in Rumphi.
1. LECTURER IN LITERATURE (1)
Responsibilities
- Conduct teaching and provide academic support.
- Develop, review, deliver, and update course plans in compliance with syllabus.
- Monitor student progress and prepare reports.
- Set examination papers and maintain quality standards.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate student performance effectively.
- Develop a conducive learning environment for students.
- Perform any other academic-related duties and tasks.
Qualification
Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Literature. Those with a PhD in the field and prior teaching experience will have an added advantage.
Other Attributes
- At least 2 years of prior teaching experience.
- Willingness to work in a team with a positive attitude towards students and co-workers.
- Excellent command of English communication skills along with administrative capabilities.
- Passion for teaching and providing quality education to students.
- Computer literacy.
2. ASSISTANT LIBRARIANS (2)
Responsibilities
- Organise and catalogue books.
- Manage e-collection of library resources.
- Acquire books to address curriculum needs and gaps.
- Liaise with academic staff on library resources.
- Supervise library assistants in the Technical Section.
- Manage Library ICTs.
Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science with at least 1 year working experience in an academic library.
3. MATRON (1)
Responsibilities
- Help students settle into campus life, ensuring safety and security at all times.
- Create a ‘home from home’ environment where students feel happy, safe, and supported.
- Inform management about students’ health and wellbeing.
- Maintain discipline while fostering a friendly relationship with students.
- Ensure halls of residence are well maintained.
- Work with the University Clinician to maintain the general medical wellbeing of students and staff, including provision of emergency first aid.
- Keep medical records and discuss details with students and clinic personnel as appropriate.
- Report maintenance requirements for halls of residence promptly.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times.
- Participate in planning the department budget and assist in financial reporting.
Qualification
Minimum of a Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery Technician. Those with a bachelor’s degree and relevant experience will have an added advantage.
